Bartor stood in his hold wiping the sweat from his brow while Striden lay not to far off puffing out smoke rings. For the last couple of hours he had been working on expanding their hold using magic. Rock debris lay in piles near the low ceiling he had been working on. "Enough of that for the day." The man said strolling over to the dragon. He lay against his side taking a couple deep breaths to recover from his hard work. What to do now. Bartor thought to himself. As an idea came to him he popped up from his seat.
Are you bored too? Bartor asked calling out to Mirene in search of something to do. He had always found the female rider rather entertaining and had come to enjoy her company. Never had he been sure if she felt the same way, but he didn't really care either. If she didn't the elf still dealt with him.

Mirene rounded an abrupt corner in the rough mountain trail, and almost stepped into a foot-wide stream of water. ::Rhûn! We've got another one over here. I'll blaze the trail, so you can mark it from the air.:: She touched a rock near the base of the stream. "Garjzla.," she said and the stone began to glow with a piercing white light.
I'll be there soon. I am bathing right now. All of this scraping through narrow passes got my hide all dirty. Mirene snorted in exasperation. ::You're already brown, it's not as if being dirty makes you unpresentable.
While Bartor had been adding to their new stronghold, Mirene and Rhûn had been out scouting for new sources of water in the mountains. A number of narrow streams flowed through the steep crevasses of the mountains, but reachable fresh water was always in demand.
She felt a message from Bartor touch her, and slightly opened her mind to allow it in. She didn't think the other rider would cause her any harm, but she was still in the habit of distrusting people whose minds she couldn't easily examine. ::Bored enough::, she said in laughing reply. ::We just found another stream, seven minutes from home, but we can call our work done for the day. We'll come to you directly. Rhûn?::
A bass rumble echoed through the valley. Yes, I heard. Ready when you are.

Seven minutes later Mirene dismounted at Galzo's hold in the Beors. "Kvetha, red rider," she said, smiling as she srugged out of her riding jerkin. "How goes the masonry?"

Waiting for Mirene and Rhûn to return Bartor decided to rest on Striden's back. He found himself quite comfortable in the spot and in seconds his eyes closed. Of course the rest didn't last forever. After what felt like a minute Bartor found his eyes opening to see Mirene greeting him. With a good stretch and yawn the rider grinned and replied. "Hey Mirene." Sitting up he jumped off of Striden's back. "It was good I'd like to think we got a lot done, but I didn't get much help." He said looking back at Striden. Well it looked like you had everything under control. I mean you are the all powerful rider right? The dragon asked stretching his own body. Striden looked at his brother before deciding to greet the dragon. "Having a good evening Rhûn?
Once Striden had added his two cents Bartor laughed it off approaching the elf. "I can't find anything fun to do around anymore. Have you two gone hunting today? Cause we're starving." He looked her up and down before examining the dragon behind her, still he couldn't tell if either of them had eaten.

Mirene gave a genuine laugh as Bartor bemoaned his dragon's indolence. "Well, he and Rhûn are certainly brothers, at least. This monstrosity tagged along behind me for half the day, then decided 'work had gotten him too dirty' and decided to take a bath for the rest of the time. And no, we haven't hunted today either-- the game here's awful until you get into the foothills." The elf stopped her ritual debriefing of Rhûn since it looked like they weren't going to rest just yet.
"That lake is an excellent source of water," Rhûn replied solemnly, "and I considered it part of our mission to explore fresh water sources." Besides, he added dryly to Striden, "we dragons have an obligation to properly train our riders." He spread his wings languidly and began to settle into an indentation in the gritty soil. His softly glowing eyes gave the silent, still dragon a rather disconcerting appearance. "I'm ready to hunt when you are. That watering hole we found a half-hour's fly from here might do nicely.
