Despite being rather indifferent to humanity,he feels so much for animals that if he saw one in distress he would endanger himself to save it. His aversion to work sometimes leads to things not getting done.
Family: Mother-Alaris, Father-Jeldon, Sister- June
History: Jard is the second child of two successful dog breeders in Gi'lead. He lived around dogs throughout his childhood, leading to his current love of dogs and all other animals. His parents raised him gently and tried hard to instill a work ethic in him, but they merely succeeded in making him think he should work, not in making him want to. His sister, on the other hand, had always been highly motivated to learn and work. When Jard was 13 she went of to a Eragonia to study there, which made her the pride of the family. After her, Jard was considered somewhat of a disappointment, at least until he got the egg to hatch. Jard has always been smart, but he tended to not apply himself in school, because he didn't like work, and especially schoolwork because he rarely saw the point in it.
After leaving school, he worked with his parent's business until he was 22. Then, he left home in search of Vanir. He'd heard that Vanir was starting a group of riders, and since he'd always daydreamed of becoming one, went to see if an egg would hatch for him. He passed Vanir's morality test, and to his surprise, an egg did hatch for him. He was soon great friends with the young dragon, Aldon. Since then, hard training has brought out skills in swordsmanship and flying, and honed his muscles. Aldon grew into the huge being he is now.
After the four years of training, Jard went back to Gi'lead, where he keeps order in the area and, in his spare time, looks after the kennel.
RP Sample: Jard smiled from his perch on Aldon. He enjoyed these flights, wandering through the country side looking for bandits and being grateful they weren't in the city. This was how he liked to work. He had his spies searching for unlawful people, and at the slightest hint of direction would take off on Aldon and hunt down the criminals. Currently he was after a band of thieves preying on travelers between Gil'ead and Bullridge, but he was enjoying the countryside while he searched. In his view there was little better than living off the land with Aldon, and he was certainly in no hurry to return to the city.
Now he spotted a likely place. There was a beaver's lodge on the edge of beaver pond in a stream to the side of the river. It looked perfectly ordinary, except it was half out of the water and had smoke coming out of a hole in the top. Aldon swooped down and landed on the lake shore, right by the lodge. Now they could see the door, which was most definitely not well-concealed. Jard walked in, and found the den empty, except for piles of goods that must have come from travelers. After Jard had removed all the stolen goods, Aldon cheerfully burned down the lodge. They decided they would pretend it took longer to do that than it did, and go back to the city tomorrow. For now, they relaxed by the river.
Dragon Bio:
Name: Aldon
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years
Color: Green (005500)
Personality: Aldon always wished that he could be a wild dragon. He had tried to hold out when in his egg, and not hatch for anyone, but he eventually realized he would not get to be wild, so he hatched for a deserving human. Ever since than, he has been trying to convince Jard to just wander the countryside and live wildly, but Jard feels he is obligated to hunt down evildoers instead. As a result, Aldon is sometimes bitter, but only when in the city for too long. Most of the time he is cheerful and friendly. When hunting bandits, he is almost brutally efficient.
